Archbishop’s Château - A UNESCO monument

The Archbishop’s Château and Gardens are among the most attractive places in the Czech Republic. This is evidenced by the fact that the Archbishop’s Château, the Flower Garden and the Château Garden were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1998.

The Archbishop’s Château is a vast Early Baroque complex of libraries, a music archive, an art gallery and almost 40 rooms and halls, most of which are associated with the stories of important visitors and events. The Assembly Hall is the largest and one of the most beautiful Rococo halls in the Czech Republic. In the revolutionary year of 1848, the meetings of the Imperial Council of the Habsburg monarchy were transferred there from Vienna, and Kroměříž was thus the centre of European affairs until the spring of 1849.

The Archbishop's Palace is open daily from April to October, except Mondays and days after holidays. The Palace Gardens are open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free, and the gardens are closed in windy and rainy weather. BIKES AND DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE GARDENS.
